Elisabeth Åsbrink
Hooked on reality
”A story should burn”, says Elisabeth Åsbrink who has always had writing as a natural part of her life. And the fact that she finds writing being one of the most enjoyable things in life becomes obvious when reading her texts. It is with a very relaxed and convincing language she portrays her characters and brings her stories forth.
Elisabeth Åsbrink is fascinated by reality and that is also where she finds her stories. She doesn’t want to write a story by pointing finger, but rather gives the reader keys to make his or her own interpretation. She shows alternatives and opens for reasoning where the reader and the author together can create themselves an idea about what has happened.
She is an author and journalist, at Swedish Television where she works with news- and culture program. 2009 her very acknowledged book A Darker Shade of Hate was released and also nominated to The August Prize in the category The best Swedish book of non-fiction the same year. In January 2010 she received The scholarship in memory of Jarl Alfredius “for being able to, with curiosity and great sensitivity, time after another portray today’s social issues”.
