Inger Wolf
In Inger Wolf's debute the theme is love. Love which can be so complicated when you like Benedikte gets caught in the middle between a safe marriage including house and children, and a love affair. It is a novel about a woman who gives herself to her feelings.
Benedikte spends a week in New York, where she meets a man who makes her knees week. His name is Jason and he is secuctive, sensual and very attractive. But back home her husband Hans Henrik and the son Thomas are waiting. Benedikte is no longer in love with her husband, but has still chosen to stay in the marriage since it feels safe, if nothing else for Thomas.
Benedikte tries to forget Jason, but she can't. And despite what she knows it will do to her marriage, she leaves for New York.
But it does't turn out the way she was hoping or wishing for. Jason obviously has another love and it turns out he has a drinking problem. Slowly but surely Benedikte is clear about the fact that it is not with Jason she wants to find happiness.
She leaves Hans Henrik and tries to build up a new life as a single mom, but it is hard since she lives in a small village, where everybody knows everyone and everything and where gossip thrives. At the end of the book, Benedikte is on her way to århus, with some good help from a girlfriend.
