Drugs, Lies and Alcohol – The True Story of an Alcoholic’s Wife (Anhörig)

Katerina Janouch

When single mother Marisa meets Rickard, a party animal many years younger than herself, a great passion arises. Even though their relationship shouldn't work, they still find one another. Rickard drinks too much, but then who doesn't? Even though he is young, he is still a good father figure and a loving partner.

But soon, Alcohol and Drugs begin to claim more and more space in their family life. Marisa is schooled in the art of becoming the Wife of an Alcoholic. She experiences the lies, promises and the constant duplicity. At first, the affects of his decay come gradually, then with increasing force. She slowly realizes that she herself has become sick, codependent. If she doesn't want to be destroyed, she has to break free. But who says you can just walk away when life doesn't work out the way you want it to?

Drugs, Lies and Alcohol – The True Story of an Alcoholic’s Wife is a harrowing novel about what happens when addiction poisons a family. It is a glimpse into the commonplace raging inferno in which love, in spite of everything, still has a place. The author holds nothing back as she reveals her behind the scenes experiences as the wife of an alcoholic and drug addict.
