The Clue on the Pier (Spåren på bryggan)

Lars Rambe

The Clue on the Pier is a mystery set in Strängnes during two eras. In 1965, the double murder of the city’s beauty queen and a “nutcase” from the mental hospital has consequences for the present day. Fredrik Gransjö, a young journalist for the local paper, decides to track down the story of the cold case while at the same time a man is found dead execution-style in the center of town. Love, betrayal and violence unite people from both eras. The book’s style is direct and the character portraits well made. The depiction of the 1960’s is wonderful and glides naturally into the present time. The Clue on the Pier is a remarkable debut, and an exciting tale from beginning to end.

"Lars Rambe, a practicing lawyer, has written an extraordinary debut novel. /.../ The finish is exciting and rather bloody and he has managed to tie all loose ends together and the remaining questions are answered. I look forward to the next book by this skilled author."
