Let Happen (Låta sig hända)
Lotta Lundberg
At the time of the German reunification, eighteen-year-old Ylva writes an essay about the Berlin Wall, and her middle-aged teacher Marit becomes deeply moved. Memories from her German childhood are reawakened, as are her guilt-ridden memories of a father who disappeared in the war. Under the guise of a school trip, they travel alone together to Berlin. The intimacy and the erotic tension between the two women increases, internal and external walls are torn down – and neither of them is aware of the conflicts to follow.
Lotta Lundberg’s novel is touching and entertaining, youthful in its tone and outlook of the world, mature in its observations and views of people – an interesting debut novel.

Reviews
"This is a gripping and well-written story about Swedish loneliness, generation gaps and sexuality gone astray. Ms. Lundberg is a lesbian version of Lars Gustavsson, if you can imagine such a thing."
Månadsjournalen
"In her debut novel, Ms. Lundberg has characterized a range of charged questions about desire and morals, trust and power, sex and identity. The confrontation between the past and the present, between a young woman about to leave the shadowy world of her youth and a middle-aged woman inexorably called back by hers, is effectively carried out."
Svenska Dagbladet
"I have seldom read something so subjective, something that constantly requires taking a stand."
Arbetarbladet
"Refreshing and realistic as a kitchen-sink, a Fucking Åmål for adults."
Expressen
"She is a good guide, leading the way through this dramatic, erotic story that you follow with suspense."
Arbetet
“She has a voice all her own. Lotta Lundberg: sometimes she’s boldly girlish, at other times cheeky if not outright daring, and in between she’s overwhelmingly vulnerable and gentle. Yet the story about Sofia is consoling, almost edifying, because ultimately it is about insight and maturity and eventually being able to accept and to forgive.”
